Hello all I have the i7 4790k running at 4.5 at 1.210 v. Maxiumus VII mb
My question is not sure if i should have intel speed step on or off.

If left on will it hurt performance?

If turned off will this shorten my cpu life
Thanks
When i game it get about 60 C degrees

Hello radioguy728

if you're overclocking with adaptive mode I would enable speedstep, if you're overclocking in manual mode I would disable it. The only real drawback with it disabled is your cpu won't downclock and it'll use more power and idle warmer.

I overclock in manual mode and have speedstep disabled.

Speedstep is a great feature and entirely compatible with OCing these days...

Just run adaptive voltage and speedstep on and you get all the benefits of OC performance and your CPU can downclock and downvolt when it needs to....win win

+1 to Arne's post, radioguy728; I've been running Intel SpeedStep / C-States with Adaptive voltage for over a year and had no issues.

I'd say you won the silicon lottery all right gupsterg, that is incredible numbers for the 4690k. Maximus viii formula and 6700k.
