Intel RAID question

Hello everyone,

Rampage IV Black Edition: BIOS 0701

Currently I have an SSD Cache + RAID0 which really speeds things up.

I'm curious about something and can't find it in the documentation. My SSD Cache drive is in an array by itself (SATA_Array_0000) and my storage drives in RAID0 are in another array (SATA_Array_0001). To me (in my stress destroyed burned out brain) it makes sense that I could have two SSDs stripped in array 0 to work as cache for array 1.

I'd rather not experiment to find the answer, I've got a lot of crap I'd have to reinstall. :3

I'm not sure if a 2-SSD array in RAID0 would work as cache, I think the most important factor here is support from Intel's own SRT software/drivers. Suppose you could do it, but if you have 2 SSDs you can forget about cache in the first place as placing them in RAID0 will efectivelly sum their capacities for the resulting array. You will be better of placing your OS and important apps in the SSD array to take full advantage of their speed. Cache is good but having your data on the SSD is better.

Agreed. I have my OS and apps on one SSD and using a 2nd as the cache for my storage RAID. I keep all my games on the storage raid. But, I definitely cannot disagree with your logic. Seems like I'm getting the best performance I can with what I have.
