Installing XP on RIVE (Using AsMedia port)

Hi All,

Been trying all day to install Windows XP for benching purposes on my RIVE using one of the AsMedia ports. Goes through both parts of the install but when resetting for the first real boot, it BSOD's on 0x0000007B

32479

To test the USB XP install stick works, I disconnected my raids and set the intel to IDE, plugged in, reinstalled and it worked fine, so i'm sure its an ASmedia driver issue. I also changed it from AHCI to IDE but this made no difference.

I have tried the 1.3.4.0 and also the latest drivers off station-drivers slipstreaming them in with Nlite, detects the drive fine on the partition part of the install.

Anyone managed to get it running who can offer up some advice?

Don't use ASMEDIA to boot your OS, or install it.

I would not bench off of the asmedia port, but if you wanted to install xp in ahci mode it can be done by slipstreaming the correct driver into xp, then place your hard drive on the intel port in ahci mode and the xp cd in drive on the asmedia controller in ide mode. I found those drivers by googling and posted in a thread here some time back

Already installed on the Intel port just to test (Disconnected all raid drives so it didn't mess anything up) and it works ok, just not on the ASmedia. Tried moving this install over after installing the drivers in XP as well but same issue. So both this way and slipstreaming didn't work.

If it can't be done then I'll just leave it. Was just for fun anyway. Think this port will be used to mess around with SteamOS instead....

Latest is 2.0.2.0 (as per Station-Drivers), but I found them a bit buggy, so using 2.0.1.0916

You can not boot into OS via Asmedia - no work around for it.

Hi HiViz, to clarify in case anyone else is reading this thread, you mean Windows XP only will not boot from asmedia.

As I currently have dual-boot Win7 & OSX on one drive and dual-boot Ubuntu and SteamOS on the other. All UEFI and booting from AsMedia.
