installing a SSD drive

Is there anything I need to know when installing a ssd drive in a Crosshair V, like which poirt to use to plug in or does it matter?
and any tips for setting it up?

The only tip that crosses my mind is that you should go to BIOS and enable AHCI mode for the SATA port at which the SSD is connected. Otherwise it is just like a normal HDD. A bit faster though :rolleyes:

Agreed. It should be on AHCI on default though right? If you're setting up on a Formula-Z with quick boot AND using windows 8.1, make sure you run the UEFI install instead of just booting from the CD/DVD. When you put in the DVD, it will let you boot like normal, but it will also give you a option to boot UEFI device, do that and it will install correctly on 8.1 (with the proper partitions) and will enable fast/secure boot.

Good advice on AHCI guys.

Make sure the SSD you are purchasing supports SATA-III or SATA-3 or SATA-600 (they are all the same). Also it appears you can now purchase SATA-III cables...I personally don't think there is a difference but some claim there is.

I've been using ATTO for bench-marking storage performance lately if you want to do some testing.
