I used the G.Skill Trident X 2400 set in my CVF AND CVF-Z, both ran at 2400, no issues.

hi 🙂
1. I have one SSD devoted to the Operating System and one to a Game drive. It's a pain to reinstall games all the time especially with them being ~30GB download (Battlefield 4). So if my operating system takes a crap or I have to restore, I do not have to install games again. Simple. In this case, yes, 2 is better than 1 🙂 **Other reasons could be if you wanted to do a RAID series, you'd have either increased speed or redundancy.

2. Many people say the 9370 is a highly binned 8350. May be true, I do not know. I'd say either get the 8350 OR if you can afford, the 9590. UNLESS, you can get the 9370 for the same price as the 8350. right?

3.4x4GB is probably worse than 2x8GB. That being said, I'm sure for what you and I are using the computers for, it doesn't make much of a difference. The RAM on my machine is the oldest component. It's the next thing I upgrade and I WILL be going with 2x8GB. I have the 4x4 because at the time, the set was MUCH cheaper than 2x8GB.

Capeesh? feel free to ask any more questions!

For overclocking, 2 sticks of RAM is better than 4 sticks as it puts less stress on the IMC(Integrated Memory Controller) that is on all CPU's.

thanks Myk, that being said, red slots or black slots? I'm guessing red, but I NEVER remember....

Looks good, my only advice would be, your PSU isn't expansion proof. What if you wanted to get a 2nd R9 290x in the future? I'd recommend getting the RM1000 just for that reason.... you never know....

Glald to see that you are asking some good questions but seeming you stated that you are a beginner here I need to add some caution...

First start off bench-testing your system with a standard config without the watercooling...for now. Here is a link to help you get started on testing your system BEFORE installing it in the case...I just don't want you to "brick" $2500 worth of computer parts:

http://thenerdbench.blogspot.com/p/bench-testing.html

To answer your question about DDR4 and the Intel question.

First there is always something better on the horizon. Here is the contrast between DDR3 and DDR4 (from Upgrading and Repair PCs 21st Ed)

DDR3 1,000 MHz Base Clock Rate/16,000 MBps transfer rate/1.5V
DDR4 1,600 MHz Base Clock Rate/25,600 MBps transfer rate/1.2V

I can't speak for everyone but AMD vs. Intel is the classic Ford vs. Chevy (when Jeep is the king) but I know for me to go the Intel route would of cost me an extra $400 (which I saved and put towards a graphic card).

So with that said...it is your $$$ so spend it the way you want to! Something to consider though...what forum can you post to that have members who take the time to answer you questions in such great detail 🙂

One more note...there has been some issues I believe with the fans causing problem on the graphic card you listed...maybe try the Matrix version of the 290 (if it is even out yet)...looks very nice with the Crosshair board.

Good luck and post back with "?".
