Impact VII: Does having an M.2 SSD installed affect the other four SATA ports?

I'm thinking of buying the Maximus VII Impact and wanted to get some clarification on the use of the M.2 slot. I currently have a boot drive, a games drive, a data drive, a backup drive, and a DVD drive in my PC. At total of five drives that require a SATA port. I would like to have the same setup in an Impact build. On bigger boards I understand that sometimes the use of an M.2 drive will either turn off a PCIe slot or one of the SATA ports. I was wondering if this is the case with the Impact. Can I run an M.2 SSD plus have all four SATA ports still function?

Sorry if this has been answered but I couldn't find anything through a Google search or a search of the forums.

Thanks! 🙂

All 4 SATA ports will still operate with an M.2 SSD installed.

Note however that the M.2 slot shares bandwidth with the PCIe 3.0 x16 slot so that when an M.2 SSD is installed the bandwidth of x16 slot will become x8.

In practice this should have little to no impact on perforance however.

Hope this helps.
