curently i have a crosshair 5,phenom II 965x4 and 16 gb ddr3 ripjaws i think im gonna give it to my step daughter. im thinking of the maximus IV extreme-z,2600k or 2700k and some ram.MY questions are is the 2700k just a overclocked 2600k also i'd like some ideas on 1600-2000 mhz ram,im not a extreme overclocker and also the maximus MOB is a E-atx size board will that fit in my 922 HAF,i know size wise it will fit but will the mounting screw holes line up or is it a whole different layout. I can use all the tech help possible only built 3 rigs in my years all have been AMD i know nothing about intel. and im not on a budget but im not rich,I want PERFORMANCE thanx everyone

The 2700k is a better binned chip. So if you overclock, you should get a better overclock with lower voltages. As the 2600k like everything is a hit and miss. Some do 5.0GHz on air at decent voltages. Some max out at 4.8Ghzz, etc. But like everything it is luck of the drawn when buying a cpu new. But you should have better luck with a 2700k then the 2600k cpus.

Ram is so cheap right now there really isn't a bad choice. Some will buy it because it matches their color scheme. Some will buy the fastest because they do synthetic benchmarks, etc. I have been very happy with GSkill RipJaw ram for a while now. I would look for some 1.5 voltage ram and continue from there. 1.65 volts will also work but i like having the option to push my voltage if needed though. Get 8Gb of ram as it is cheap as I mentioned before.

The case if you are going to keep it. You may have to move the stand offs to match the new boards mount holes. And not sure if you are going to get a new cpu heat sink cooler. Or use the standard intel heat sink that comes in the box.

What about a gpu? What are you going to be using or looking for? As i take it you are going to give it all to her and just build a new pc right? Thanks

o no im gonna get a MOB,CPU,and RAM only.shes got 5770 and amd 5200+ cpu she needs a new board and ram and cpu she has 600 watt psu. im gonna keep my 922 if i can and ive got a CM850 psu and asus 570,h100 etc..... im just wondering about the e-atx MOB coolermaster says atx or mini atx not e-atx but when you look close at maximus MOB the screw holes are " inset " about an inch down the 24 pin connector side of the board not down the outside edge as they are on the crosshair 5. so im wondering if someone has put a E-atx MOB in a HAF 922 it looks like it will work

Maximus IV is not an EATX motherboard.
