I got 16 ram but only 2.99 is usable?... why?

Are you using a 64 bit OS?

32 Bit OS, can only see up to 3 gigs.

I noticed in another thread, that you are using a 32 bit Windows 7, hence why you are only seeing...2.99 gigs.

You have to get a copy of 64 bit Windows 7, to see and use anything about 3 gigs.
