How do I load the latest BIOS in new M5E MB and test before installing in the case

My new parts are coming in and I want to test as many of the parts as possible before I start the build. Especially the 3770K CPU and MVE motherboard. I read here a while back this is possible and can't find the article. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Place the board on the box you bought the board in. Fit CPU one stick of RAM and VGA. Keyboard and mouse make all PSU connectiions. Have the bios you want to test on a FAT formatted USB stick. Boot the system using the power button on the board its self situated near the 24 Pin PSU plug. . Enter Bios, default bIos so F5 , F10 re-enter Bios navigate to tools EZ flash and follow the on screen prompts to flash the Bios. Restart the system as prompted. Let the Bios flash complete it may go through a couple of ROG updates then back into bios and there you have the system ready for testing with the new bios.

I suggest you default this first then you make the changes you wish to test.

You can also use Bios Flashback which is detailed in the manual but EZ flash would be my choice for fault free bios flashing.

Thanks 8 Pack. My first build in quite a few years, so like Curly said, "goslow?" when Mo asked the name of the town the stooges were coming to. Slap, poke! Anyway, your "Enter Bios, default bIos so F5 ....... threw me off. Any help here?
Can you tell me which version of BIOS is the latest for the MVE and is it stable, and do I just simply download it, from ASUS, to the flash drive, (and I assume EZ flash let's me point to the bios file directly and is it OK to have other files on the flash drive as well).
I do not intend to do any OC'ing until I have an up and running, rock solid PC working, so when you say "I suggest you default this first then you make the changes you wish to test." my well working PC at that point is the "default" system you speak of. Is that what you meant?
Also, you say to add VGA before the startup. Just one GPU, or the two I have? (2X GTX690's), and just one screen at this time (I have 3 Samsung 27" 2560X1440 series 9 screens) or all three? Sorry, not bragging. I am a old fart CAD design consultant for many years looking to have some fun.

latest BIOS for MVE is 704, it seems quite stable for me here 🙂
can get it from here:
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/Maximus_V_Extreme/#download

once in BIOS press F5 on keyboard to load defaults, then press F10 save & reset. after reboot go back to bios and on the last screen you will find EZ Flash option, select it (with usb flash drive plugged in) and it should allow you to point to a BIOS update file on it. once there just confirm you agree and the board will take care of the rest.

after flashing, again once in BIOS press F5 & then F10 an go from there.

^^^^^^^^ Correct!!!! and exactly as I explained. Bios and stability are very system dependent one that works well in one may not in another. I find one that works for me and never update again unless my hardware changes and I need feature support. So you will have to test that Bios in your system. There is no reason it should not be stable though. Any problems post back and we will try to assist.

Thanks Guys. My parts are still coming, no RAM yet though. Guess I can not test the MB until the sticks come in.
