Help with RAID and AHCI at same time in BIOS with 1 SSD 2 HDD Raided & 1 HDD no raid

Hi all I am having the same problem it appears many of you have had as well. I'm having a bit of trouble deciphering all the
instructions people have offered so far though. Basically I need help setting up the following.

1 SSD on port 5 or 6 as OS drive in AHCI.

2 HDD on port 1 2 3 or 4 as a RAID 0 array set to raid in BIOS

1 HDD normal no raid on ports 5 or 6 set to AHCI in BIOS.

windows 7 64 installed on the SSD

Apparently you can only select raid on all sata ports or raid on 1-4 and ide on 5-6 or ahci on all of them.

I tried a work around of plugging the SSD on the asmedia port in AHCI and the raid array on 1-4 and the other HDD on 5-6 in
ide but had the same problem with the array not initializing or being striped or allowed to stripe. AHHHH This is going to cause me to go bald quick.

I hear there is a reg mod for this if someone has it or knows how to do it please share.

There have been a few threads about this but I either don't have some of the software needed or the reg mod so I started my
own. Plus some were missing crucial steps in the fix.

Also If anyone who works for ASUS and reads this will you be fixing this in a bios update?

I have tried a few times to fix this and the raid array shows up in disk management sometimes as a raid array but never raid 0 and not initialized or striped. Also I have never done any reg editing and would appreciate some help with that. Do I need to
do it through a command prompt or through start regedit and then navigate to msahci?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help. If I get this fixed I will write a step by step and maybe it can get sticked to the
forum for anyone else who has this issue in the future.

I could be wrong but I believe that any port set to raid will default to AHCI for any non raid drive attached to it. Set all ports to RAID Install SSD only. Boot and istall windows if it isnt already installed. Shutdown. Install Raid drives reboot. hit CTR + F for raid screen. Build RAID array. After reboot shutdown install the rest of your drives. Boot to bios and go to boot menu and set SSD as first boot device. Hope this helps.

I'll give it a try. Let you know what happens in 30 min. LOL

I had to run a low level format on the discs in the array. They were formerly a raid 0 array in my last computer before a sata port came loose. That was a MSI board FYI and you were correct about the raid setting defaulting to AHCI " without showing it in BIOS" operation if no array is detected so thank you for your help.
