Help with OC of AMD Phenom II X 4 BE

Retired
Not applicable
Hi,

I'm new to overclocking but I've recently upgraded my motherboard to an Asus Crosshair V formula.

I have upgraded the BIOS to 0813.

My system specs are as follows:

Motherboard: Asus Crosshair V formula (0813)
Processor: 3.20 gigahertz AMD Phenom II X4 955
(HDZ955FBK4DGI)
RAM: 2GB Mushkin Redline #992013 (1x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz 7-8-7-24 (2GB sticks. 4GB in TOTAL)
PSU: Corsair 750watt
Cooling: Corsair H50 CPU Cooler.

Hopefully I've included everything needed above.

I'm looking to overclock my system but I'm unsure how to do so.
I'm very new to overclocking so would need help with all BIOS settings.
The stock speed is 3.2Ghz, but since I'm unsure what this processor can reach on average I'm at a loss to what to expect.

Any help most appreciated.

Waiting in anticipation.

Hello!

Welcome to the forum! 🙂

When I started oveclocking my 955 I found this little tutorial/walthrough/set of instructions very helpful http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=596023&highlight=955+results

I must also say that using BIOS version 0051 gave me best results, but I have not tried 0813. So can't really say much on that end.
I'd also like to add that I got my 955 stable at 4,2GHz with resonable volts and temp.
I really recommend you to read that guide.
Good luck 😉
