I have the crosshair V form fx990. My front panel detects usb but not my headphones. First rig but I am almost certain I plugged the cable in the correct spot. I have installed all the drivers. User guid says to set front panel to HD audio in BIOS but I dont see where you can set that.

Try setting the Front Panel in Bios to AC97 if you have the option and see if that will work...My Front Panel Connector has 2 Plugs on it, HD and AC97 yours might have the same too and might have been labeled backwards like mine....I had to play with them till I got it right.

I couldnt find in Bios where you change that setting.

Click on the advance tab, then scroll down to onboard devices configuration, open that then scroll down to SB HD Azalia configuration and you will find the settings there.

Thanks for the reply. I will look at that when I get home. I unplugged the HD audio and changed it out for the AC 97. The computer or realtek software still does not showing that anything is plugged in. I'm start wonder if I didn't plug in something. Does the HD or AC 97 have a seperate power plug?

The pin configuration is different between the two but both have everything they need there on the header.

Well unless the front panel is disabled in Bios or something, I have a bad audio header or the headphone and microphone jacks are bad. I hope its not the board. I have already returned 1 for the Lan not working.

I would check to see if the plugs are still wired to the jacks. I've heard of wires getting ripped or cut during case assembly because something went awry and that would definitely prevent them from working.

Thanks for the reply! The plug was not seated correctly and I pushed it down. The light on the power button is on for the first time, but comp is still not showing a front panel audio connector.................
