Help, Rampage 4, mic not working?

I had my Rampage 4 for 2+ years now and no serious issues other than its operating fan stopped working. Just the last few days I was having random mic issues.I have a Skullcandy Plyr1 and no programs was detecting the mic. I figured that the headset has failed so I bought a new one and it wasn't functioning either. Instead I was getting either a wierd static sound or no mic detection what so ever.I have gone over every possible solution, rolled back drivers, installed different drivers, i even re-installed windows, still no fix. I have come to the conclusion that something has failed on my motherboard and it must be a hardware issue. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this happen? I have paid a lot of money for this board and to have it have failing components seems unfair for such hi tier product.
If any one can shine any kind of light to this problem i would appreciate it.

Thanks.

Hi Shello

Unfortunately that is a pretty common malfunction...the realtek chip seems to die very easily on that board

The PCH fan behaviour was changed in later BIOS to only come on at 85 degrees...you can change that in BIOS

is there a fix by chance? replace mother board?

Only "fix" is use soundcard in pcie...or RMA board 😞

total noob here so pcie? would that be the analog mic plug in? or do i fit a separate sound card and fit it into a slot?

ok i installed a new sound card and i have sound through headphones and tv speakers but have not been able to get reception of mic through optic chord or line in. The best i got was sound recognition of mic when i plugged in the microphone into head jack. And only through the line in port. I'm stumped at this point i'm over warranty on this and at this point i feel like having to by another motherboard is my only option. Any other ideas?
