[HELP] Maximus GENE VI MPCIE COMBO II Problems

Hi,

I have a frustrating problem in relation to the MPCIE II Combo Adaptor supplied with the GENE VI.
Into it I have installed the wifi/BT adaptor that comes supplied by default with the higher end formula and extreme boards.
Unfortunately however there seems to be no way to toggle the wifi option on in Windows 8.

I have used the latest drivers from the ASUS website:
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/MAXIMUS_VI_EXTREME/#support_Download_36
Wi-Fi Driver V6.30.95.48 for Windows 8 32bit & 64bit.(WHQL)

The BT works perfectly, and the wifi all shows as installed fine within the device manager. I know the MPCI wifi card works as I had it installed in my previous GENE V board.

I noticed that on the boards that come with the wifi/BT card bundled (formula/extreme) that in the BIOS under "onboard devices configuration" there is an option to enable/disable both the wifi/BT but on the GENE VI these options are missing.

Hope somebody knows the answer, this is driving me insane!

Thanks

Still nothing on this....

Read a few things online about Windows 8 being the possible cause but I was using the adaptor in my Gene V on Windows 8 previously without a problem see below link, only difference this was not installed from a clean install but was added to an existing Windows 8 installation
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/89c72152-c6ba-4ea1-bb07-82bd5d93fb41/no-wir...

Could it be something to do with doing a clean install? I noticed that it was an unrecognised device and was not picked up automatically by Windows 8 first without installing the drivers, is it worth me unplugging and plugging back in again (bit of a pain tbh as it's installed into a silverstone FT03 case with a H80i)

Thanks

Sadly I do not have a Gene to test mate, so no help here. But if in system you are able to detect it then surely it will be working? Have you enabled the wifi via systems device?

Or are you not detecting the device in OS?
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

Thanks for the reply,

It's a strange one, the card is detected and the BT side of things works it's just the wifi that is the problem.

It's like Windows 8 can see there is a card installed but there is no option to switch on the wifi radio...very frustrating

I got a little further today and tested another GENE VI (I work @ SCAN Computers in the UK so have this luxury), this time however I installed Windows 8 with CSM enabled and hey presto radio enabled and wireless networks detected!

My install was done in full UEFI mode/secure boot with the CSM disabled and that's the only difference I can see.

So I am unsure if this is a driver issue (broadcom wireless) BIOS or Windows 8 issue?

Can anybody else try a full UEFI install to see if they have the same issue?

Thanks
