Hello my friend unless you tell me what motherboard you are using I am really unable to help you.

But if your DVD is an IDE (not a SATA type) you are going to have a hard time finding a modern (newer model) motherboard with IDE.

If you are trying to install OS then there is a fix. You can go to the Microsoft site and download their USB tool. http://emea.microsoftstore.com/UK/en-GB/Service-Centre/Windows-7-USB-DVD-Download-Tool

Follow the instructions and create a USB OS install drive.
