Having trouble with the Xonar Phoebus sound card and the Maximus V Extreme.

Hello guys, after lots of trial and errors I have narrowed my issue I have been having with my Maximus V extreme mother board. basically it looks as if its the sound card that is tripping my system up. without the sound card installed the GPU's work as they should, both at 8X native.

with the sound card installed the BIOS will not find the second GPU, but the sound card is found and will work, when I remove it the bios will again find the GPU and everything is working correct again.

has anybody come across anything like this? any fix possible?

I have also tried a PCI-E 1.0 ribbon to attach the sound card to the PCI-E 1.0 on the second from the bottom that is otherwise covered by the GPU and the system still would not find the card.

I am running

Maximus V Extreme
I7 3770k CPU
2X GTX 680
32 GIG DOMINATOR RAM
1000 PSU

now just need to get the ASUS XONAR PHOEBUS to work and my system will be complete, thanks guys for all your help!!!!

I have added a few images for reference so you can get an idea of the setup to see if theirs something im missing...

also would their be any other way to connect the sound card other than through PCI-E

possibly a converter out their or something? I was thinking I have a slot that is below the mother board and could link it to something like possibly through USB or SATA or something, just need the computer to recognize it.

any help would rock, but it seems ive ran out of ideas.

thanks guys.

Did you alerady upgrade the motherboard latest version bios?

latest version bios 1501 :
http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=zh-tw&p=1&s=39&m=MAXIMUS%20V%20EXTREME&os=36&ft=3&f_...

yes started with the first and worked all the way up to the latest version 1501, all showing the same issue.

ok solved part of the problem,

Asus contacted me and said that when the PCIe 3.0/2.0_x8_4 slot is occupied, the PCIe 3.0/2.0_x8_2B will be automatically dissabled.

so that would give me the reason that the sound card when installed into slot 4 at the bottom of the board makes the second GPU dissapear.

but that still doesnt give me a reason why when the GPU's are installed into slot 1 and 3 and the sound card in slot 2B makes the bios not recognise the sound card. unless that also gets shut off as well,

has anybody else heard of this happening?

or a way around it?
