Got Response on the R4E Board

Hey, I don't know if most of you may notice the update on my current R4E and how I said in another thread how I decided to RMA the board where I got it from.

Well I just got a response showing that there is one slight bent pin on the motherboard and they usually charge for this for repair but will do it for free for the goodwill. (Just a note that this First R4E board got brought from PCCaseGear not Gamedudes)

But aneway I didn't built that board, Gamedudes did & Remember how they couldn't find the fault on it on why it wont post (It lasted for 6 months until the cold post issue started to occur).

That was when I thought I give the board a 2nd chance and get the replacement R4E from Gamedudes since they couldnt find the fault with the current one, that has the Cold post issue

and so that was when the cold post turn on issue again occurred during the 4 or 3 months time and that's when I decided to get the Rampage IV formula from PCCaseGear and did the build myself.


After I took the cpu and checked the Gamedudes R4E board the pins were bent like nuts at places and I was like.. "man they didn't look after the board properly"

but aneway, I'm being looked after on PCCaseGear side of it, (and they gonna test on it before sending it back) but on the R4E board but not sure what to do with it..

The Lead pencil trick works on large pins, you certainly won't be using it in a 2011 pin board as the damage it would cause is more than you try to fix. The lead pencil was good for the CPU'S that had pins on them, Credit card, or thin long razor knife works best. I have bad eyes, when working on pins I use two maybe three pairs of glasses to magnify the object I'm looking at.

Cause on PCCaseGear when you purchase something it automatically gives you the receipt details linked on your account.

So if you had to RMA a item you brought, you just log on go to the warranty section find the Recept number, choose the item that is linked on it, describe the fault and either add the pic of the serial number or the fault of the item and sumbit the RMA process form.

Secondly, if I decide to keep the board and everything, around on November I should be getting like $3,000 or such, so Its either

A: do water cooling and get a new case (like 900D Corsair case), put my 3960x in the Rampage IV extreme and such but not to sure bout waterblocking the chip and add a 2nd GTX 680 and add both of the 680's in watercooling (not sure if its either worth watercooling the 680's), thinking of changing powersupplies to the AXi 1200 Corsair with white connectors and get myself a Rog Raidr 240gig.

B: either get myself a 2 of the GTX 780 (either reference card so if I do water cooling it be simple to find the blocks), get the Raidr and either thinking of getting a 27 inch monitor that can do 2560x1440 resolution (ASUS PB27BQ) and that be it and either keep the Rampage IV Extreme or tend the courage to sell it at least >.<

The warranties are not transferred. Once you sell it, just supply a copy of the receipt or the receipt number, that's all you really need. The warranty is specific to the product not the person, just like if you were to sell a brand new car still under warranty. Should also note that regardless of what PCcasegear say you have a 2 year warranty by law in Australia, and even after that their is an expectation that products should continue to work, so you can still return the board to PCcasegear and have them deal with the RMA.

I am in a similar boat, I have a brand new bf3 edition replacement (checked serials with Asus so know it wasn't refurbished) just laying around since I got a formula due to the 3-4 month wait for the replacement. I'm not interested in running it as my PC but I am hoping it will be compatible for an ESXi rig, once I'm done with my CCNA/CCNA Security, to get MC certs + vmware certs. That way if I lose it in another 6 months I won't really care.

This also stands for countries in the European Union. Even if a product says that it offers 1 year warrantee, as long as it is sold within the EU it's an obligatory 2 year warrantee by EU law. Due to the consumers not being aware of this law, many companies still get off pulling the 1 year.

Ah, Well If I did sell it and the person had a issue with it. It probably rolls back on me to either give a refund or something in which it mite be also easier if they could or know how to RMA the motherboard with/without the need of PCCaseGear resolving their part to do it.

Just that when they receive the motherboard back from repairs (From Asus) they gonna do a test with it on my fault that I had with it and I'm just having doubts and hoping that they look after the pins after that before sending it back to me.

Oh oh, you know the Intel insertion tools and stuff, I just found out the postage is kinda like over the league for me to afford at the momment.. Since they use FedEx and apparently the postage cost is more expensive than USA. So for the tools are like real cheap but the postage is like $150 FedEx Express and I'm like isn't there a cheaper postage rate than that or if they have another postage dealer they could use to send it to me.

But all in all, I guess I have to wait till when ever I have the money for that.

Upgrade path is a real pain but such a sweet joy too.

Things to think about. AMD are about to launch a new series of graphic cards. And I would suggest they are going to blow the Titans out of the water. Not long now to launch.

Two 780's will kick big time butt. And way better than what you can do with the 680's.

lol awww HiVizMan >.< , I used to go with the path of the AMD cards but other games supported sli more than Crossfire..

But yes, it is a pain on the upgrade side. I don't even know if I should take the Rampage IV extreme another chance..

Like my mums using Rampage II extreme and I know she needs an upgrade but it don't feel right if I build a system for her cause it feels like she has the Extreme Over my board lol.

But of course she just use it for chating and my dad use it for watching movies so u can see it seems pointless to use an expensive board for those type of things really.

Well it seems u already answered one part of the question on bout me getting 780's, what about the monitor? Is it really worth it on a big screen resolution. At the moment I'm using VG248 Monitor

I use the 27in 144Mhz monitors and they do the job. I am looking at the bigger boys but have not pulled the trigger because 4K is not that far off and prices will tumble. So I am thinking of sticking for the next two years.

yeah, it seems like there wont be any high resolution monitors that are like the 144hz models for gaming and either have 3d compatable with Nvidia 3d Vision. Even though I have 3D Vision I just don't use it that much anymore since it hurts my eyes on the vision on the gameplay.

But also of course I was waiting for Touch Screen type monitor to but I was either hoping high Resolution type models. *shrugs*

I guess it be a long while till we see something promising on the monitor range.
