Going mad over my new build please help!

Hi all,

Here is the system I am trying to start using:
Crosshair V formula
Phenom II AMD 965 CPU
2x2G G skill F3-12800cl9d-4GBRL
Geforce gtx570
Antec PSU 650W
Cooler Master CM690 II Plus (advanced)

First of all the system would not power on, only the 3 leds (OC/Start/Reset) were lit.
Then I realised that pressing the "clear cmos" button at the back allowed the system to start. Once I switch off (using the PSU's 0/1 button), I have to clear the cmos again if I want to try booting the system.
I do not hear any Beep (hence my first question: Where the hell is the speaker? I don't think my case has internal speaker, but does the motherboard have one? Where is the connector? (I was thinking of using my old case speaker))
So I do not hear any beep, and the CPU LED and VGA LED are two steady red lights.
I have tried all positions for my RAM, with one or two sticks, it did not change a thing.
My PSU is working, I just moved it from my old computer.
I reckon 650W should be enough, and I have used a few online calculators to check that it would be enough for the system.

So to summarize my questions:
Can someone help me with the speaker issue? Hearing beeps would definitely help me isolate the issue.
Also do you have any suggestion? This is getting frustrating I have just spent 6 hours on this thing and I usually don't have any issue building my own rigs.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Page 2-27 of the manual shows where you can hook up a speaker to the motherboard, and 650W is definitely enough for a 570 and 965, because I've ran that setup off of one before, even 100% load.

Kind of a dumb question, but just to make sure, did you connect the 4+4 or 4 pin power connector to the top of the CPU socket, and both 6 pin PCIe connectors to the GPU?

as far as the speaker goes, most cases built recently have them wired in with your connectors for the mobo, hdd activity light, power, reset switch ect. its just a tiny little black thing. with you're CVF you have 2 little blocks they are asus q-connectors. they save me a headache connecting everything. but if you look you will see a spot for the speaker hookup, so if you have an old case you could scavenge a speaker from there and connect it directly with you're q-connect

Thank you for your answers, I looked in the manual but I guess it was late I night and I missed the speaker bit.
Yes I have connected the power connectors you described.
I will plug my old case speaker into it and see what I get.
I will then let you know of what I got, I have the feeling this is not the end...

I have now plugged in the speaker I missed from my case box (duh), but the motherboard is not beeping at all.
I start it, I immediately (not after a few seconds) get a red light on CPU_LED and VGA_LED, and nothing else.
It might be a good info for you to know that I need to clear the CMOS every single time I want to start the system. It won't do anything if I don't.

Do your Fans spin? Specially CPU. Do you have that CPU Fan connector on its own place?
CPU: AMD FX-8150 MB: ASUS Crosshair V Formula DDR3: 2x4GB G.Skill Sniper DDR3-1866
GPU: ASUS 7970 SSD: 4x Corsair F3 120GB @ Raid0 PSU: SF Golden Silent 500W OS: W7 Ultimate 64bit

I have tested the board outside the case, with CPU, RAM and video card only, still no post.
I have tried with different video cards, different RAM sticks, no luck.
I am returning it tomorrow.
Thanks for the answers anyway.

You're having the same issue as I am. Just with slightly different hardware.

So far RMA or return seems to be the only solution. I did however come across a video that recommended holding down the MemOK now Go button till it flashed.

The new motherboard is working well now.
Only issue is with my 4x2GB memory sticks, I sometimes get bsod's in games and prime95 errors.
I am playing with bios settings to stabilize.
