hehe..ok..so after 5 hours sleep...wife has bene using pc and seems fine.

i still have to install bunch of stuff, get hte ps3 media server working again, but all seems well.

cpu temp is at 26 celcius (H80) so am happy 🙂

ram registers fine even though not using the slots th emanual advises.

just hope everything is ok with the SSD...but it seems ok as far as i can tell.

I moved hte swap file onto my old 7200 rpm drive instead for now to have as little wear on the SSD until finish combining the old partitions on the std drives, etc. then will read more and decide what to do withthe swap file.

Yes, also if u dont use hibernate, turn it off, same for indexing (not needed with readspeeds) windows support also has an fix to remove the hibernate file, this will free up the same amount as u have memory in ur system. Same for automatic defragmenting, turn it of, this will increase lifespan also for the ssd.

do you know how to reduce the start up time even more; something about a setting for the asus rampage splash screen? or the 2nd splash screen or something? i guess as long as it's long enough for me to hit delete to enter bios if i have issues or want to make changes, it should be good. don't need an ad telling me what type of mobo i bought 😛

With a SSD you should not be needing to even start your PC that often. I use the sleep function and have instant wake.
