Getting Aura to work with Asus x99 ROG Strix

Logick

Hello, I recently built a new PC using the ASUS ROG Strix X99 Mobo. Everything has been working fine except aura. I ran it a few times and it was working fine, but at on point it froze on me, so i killed the process. Now whenever I run it nothing happens. The AsRogAuraService.exe is still running, but that's it.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advanced.

why does ASRogAuraService take up 12-18% of the CPU just on idling?!?!?

I can also confirm that AsRogAuraService is using 10-11% of my CPU when idle

Asus needs to fix this asap

I'm having the same issue with the Asus Deluxe II board. The RGB output LED strips will not display the correct colors. Green just does not exist. The aura app also eats 7-10% of my cpu on my 6850k at all times.

I am having this issue on both X99 ROG Strix (6800K) and X99 Deluxe II (6850K) systems.

When it does work, the software and LEDs will eventually freeze and become unresponsive, but most of the time attempting to launch Aura software does nothing.

~10% CPU usage if Asus Aura service is running (just the service not the software).

I have another 6800K system using an RGB board from another brand.
Benchmarking them side by side the Asus systems score significantly lower than the other system if the Asus Aura service is running.
The score from the 6850K on the Asus board is lower than the 6800K on the non-Asus board (both stock).
(regardless of whether the software/LEDs are responsive)

This is terrible considering the 6850K + Deluxe II costs almost double what the non-Asus board + 6800K did!

Taking such a big performance hit for the LEDs is definitely not worth it IMO.
(This definitely needs to be fixed)

For those who want to get their LEDs to work on almost every startup I have found this works for me:
When you shut down your PC turn the switch off on the PSU and leave it for a few minutes (or until the next time you start it up again).
This should allow Asus Aura to launch after startup and give you control of the LEDs until they freeze again.
Although this does NOT fix the constant ~10% CPU usage.

Hopefully these issues will be fixed soon or I will be forced to return both boards and switch brands entirely after using Asus for almost 20 years... 😞

I hope some asus staff read us at least...

Almost two month from first message in this thread and no solution yet. I paid a lot too for MB and GPU with AURA system and I'm upset. Lights are part of the PC too, that's why asus always advertise them...

Hello

Maybe when testing the same is being seen as I see. Hard to fix something that doesn't appear to be broke when investigating it.

It is also consuming around 10% of my CPU as well. AND I can't even use the program because it is only booting into the background with no interface. This is outrageous. I buy an expensive motherboard to integrate with case LED's and they can't even get it to work. If they would just acknowledge the issue and see people are having problems with their software it would be a different story. Really not happy with this with no seeming end to it.

Well what is clear is that some of us have freezing lights and software interruptions.

I totally agree with you.

I reset my cmos this morning to get the program to run. I checked the CPU load and it is around 7-10% I assumed it would only run at a high load when it booted into the background but this is not the case. It looks as though it is always at an abnormally high load.
