FX-8350 Boot Issue

Hello,

I have an issue. My motherboard is a Crosshair Formula V updated to the latest version.

I have installed a FX-8350 with 2 sticks of Vegeance DDR3 1600mhz ram.

When I booted, it wouldn't detect the ram, I know the ram works as I tried with my old outdate processor.

This issue only happened with the FX-8350 when I was using a 3pin cooler, but it works when I used the stock heatsink which is four pin.

Does this mean I can only use a four pin cooler?

Thanks

Try installing the H40 with the FX8350 again and make sure not to overtighten the screws. We've had numerous threads about CPU & RAM errors because people were overtightening the screws when installing their H100. As a result, they were warping their motherboards.

It may cause the ram error or that could be another problem but let's sort the cooler for sure incase you cool that wonderful cpu aswell.
If you go to the monitor page where fan control is you want q fan enabled and you'll see the cpu fan setting dc would be best on three pin, then exit and save and see what happens, also do you get the dram led on near the atx socket? If not press the memgo button and if it flashes that's a ram problem for sure.

Brilliant, thanks you two.

I'll try installing the cooler again later, but possibly tomorrow.

I'll check the motherboard settings. I remember the light being on, but I can't remember if it was flashing or not. It was beeping though, and the beeps were saying that the ram was not detected (One long, two short).

Thanks for the help.

If there was a light it may have been the cpu one though its constant the dram only goes if you use the memgo button I think it could be your psu had the same issue rma of the psu new one in and works perfect now.
