I am not overly worried about longevity of the CPU, but I am concerned with longevity of the board - what are things I should absolutely avoid to make sure the board lasts for years?
Does the qreset button completely reset/clear cmos? Or is there some way to do this without opening the case? I know there is a clear cmos button at back, but does this completely clear everything and basically reset to fresh state, including all profiles, etc?
After a bios flash I usually prefer to start from scratch, but would love to do that without opening case.

Make sure to keep it cool... for overclockers heat is usually that damages PC hardware lol... Or else they wouldn't have programs and gadgets to check for temperature... lol After all if you purchase expensive hardwares it's gonna get more expensive if heat damages it like a mustang automotive... breaks down easily if the carberator heats up doesnt it?
And I heard the 1305 would probably stable the motherboard, but I noticed a lot of boards uses 1305 which is strange I heard Maximus-Z gene used 1305 but I'd thought it's only for Rampage... well technically it's for CPU...
Q reset I believe for RIVE it's to switch BIOS... so basically you have 2 CMOS and if you press Q reset it would reset to the default CMOS.. but I don't know the difference in Rampage Formula IV and Rampage IV extreme... I recall in BIOS you have an option of 7 CMOS to preset but when I pressed the Q reset for RIVE it forced to the default CMOS... instead of my custom made CMOS... (basically I just tweaked memory from 1300mhz to 1600mhz... but Kingston 8GB kit can go up to 2400mhz... ) Since I have the same CPU as you... I don't want to overclock the CPU... unless it's like i7-3960X wish it wasn't overpriced at $1300.00 lol
Well you can flash a BIOS from a website... http://event.asus.com/2012/mb/USB_BIOS_Flashback_GUIDE/
I did this with RoG Connect... but like I said I don't know the difference between Rampage Formula IV...

There is a way to drop the voltage it is called negative offset. Instead of using the + sign when keying in the amount of offset you wish to apply key in - values.

LOL sorry mate I misread your question then. Need more coffee.
And it is on overclockers.net I think.
Look it is all about cooling and the nature of the individual CPU - sometimes you get lucky sometimes not. 🙂
