Hi folks
First Post here at ROG....hang quite a bit at HWC and Evga. So, finally moving up from my old Evga 759 Classified Board and 980X to a much anticipated X79 Build

I may be on here with a few questions if I get lost in the Stickies, had that Evga Board since its release, so doing as much research as I can before the gear arrives next week.
Will be getting a RIVE and 3930k along with an Intel 120GB SSD (Boot) and 16GB Doms 1866.

Recycling a bunch of stuff including a couple of GTX 680 Classy's, my AX 1.2kW, Silverstone TJ09, H100i, 240GB Vertex and a couple of 640GB WD Blacks

cheers folks and looking forward to "diving in"

Hey Thanks guys, friendlier Forum then Evga ? 😉

Anyhoo, parts should be here in a few days, already have my old gear listed FS.
After reading all the headaches folks were having with the X79 Evga Classified Boards and seeing many folks jumping from there to RIVE, the decision was a "no brainier"!!!

Ill get my Signature and System Specs squared away here.

Quick question with re: to Flashing BIOS, best to do this with a jump drive directly in the Board prior to building or no big deal to wait until after the build is complete?

Cheers n thanks 😉

It all depends as to the shipping bios. Rule of thumb here is don't update unless you need to fix something.

Hey guys
Mynew Board n CPU will be here tomorrow 🙂 So was going through the UEFI W7 Installation Guide........then got a thorough headache as all of my WXP, Visa and 7 Installations have been quick n painless.
Change 1st Boot device to Optical
Insert W7 disc into Optical and Boot
Install Windows onto SSD (Format then install in W7 Splash Screen)
Install Drivers
Install Virus Protection
Update Windows then systematically install a couple of more Drives

Now, as said after reading the UEFI W7 Install guide I was like........really?

Here's what I typed in that Sticky (sorry unsure if it will be replied to):

I'm going from an Evga 759 Classified X58 Platform with a 980X to a RIVE w 3930k. My new parts will be here tomorrow, here's the deal:
1. Will be installing W7 SP1 onto a new Intel SATA 3 120 GB SSD
2. Will be hooking up initially 2 x Optical Drives
Then I want to Boot up and simply install W7 (Boot from either one of my installed Opticals (1 is an LG Blueray the other a Samsung DVD RW).

Once fully installed, install Asus Drivers, update W7, install Virus Protection then:
1. Install my Vertex II 240 GB w all my Steam and Origin Data
2. Install 2 x WD Caviar Blacks 640GB with all my Data.

- No RAID

My question is, what if I chose NOT to select the Optical Drive with the "UEFI" Prefix and instead to an install as I have always done them on my other Boards?
Is this detrimental to the System, will I have issus?

I do not "ever" plan on loading W8, I'll wait until an OS comes out that is actually better than W7

Also, I do not want or like a bunch of "Bloatware" loaded up on my Rigs, I'd rather keep it "clean".

Thanks in advance for your support n any help with queries guys.....it will take me awhile to catch on to Asus Mobo's and all the "stuff" 😉
