eventual cpu volt opnions

i have read to always keep cpu input 0.5 above vcore. so i set eventual to 1.81 or 1.82 for vcore 1.25 and 1.265. but with recent testing letting it go auto it runs around 1.69-1.73ish stable with full load.

1.800 is stock for 4770k.

any thoughts on weather i should leave it on auto? with it on auto total power consumption is about 7-12w lower.

If the system is stable Eventual Input Voltage will be fine at the value you have set. However, with approximately 0.40V difference between it and the loaded CPU voltage there may be instances where there is not enough recovery time during instantaneous loading. If instability is seen increasing Eventual Input Voltage would be the first step.

The Intel data sheet calls for 1.65 to 1.85 for Vccin. An auto condition that keeps you in that range is working well.

Many opinions suggest keeping Vccin 0.40 volts above Vcore. At higher overclocking speeds and the Vcore they require, 0.5 volts of headroom may be hard to do while keeping Vccin in bounds. I have not had trouble with Vccin at, but not over, 1.90 when using 1.5 Vcore.

Your Vcore is nowhere near that and stability in your profile is what counts, of course.

yes i understand that from both posts. For the whole time i have been OC'ing this machine i have been wavering between 1.81 and 1.85 on eventual to keep it at .5 or sometimes .6 above vcore. As jab/jeff said its recommended for high oc to keep it at .5 above. But over the last few days i have let it sit on auto.

When its on auto the system keeps it at 1.69-1.73ish even under heavy loads. I have not had any stability issues. As praz said if i did have stability issues i would go back to the 1.82 eventual and it runs fine.

But here is my thing if its running stable when on auto at the 1.6-1.73 range would it be wise to leave it there? Lower volt = longer life ect ect. Could the reduced vccin cause any damage? Excluding any stability issues (b/c like i said its running stable. occt, rog realbench, iem, handbrake/avidemux heavy encodes all stable even when vcore is jumping around b/c of avx instructions) are there any possibly other issues/concerns?

Other than possible instability Eventual Input Voltage is fine the way it is currently set.
