Error Code 55

PK2370

Motherboard: Maximus V Formula ver. 1803
Memory: G.Skill Trident X 2X8G and another 2X8G total of 32G
Video cards: GTX 770 4G and GTX 660TI 3G
Processor: Intel core i7 4.20 Gtz

One day I decided to upgrade to the GTX770 4G. So after I put everything in made sure everything was connected I was getting error code 55. Found out it was a bad memory slots no big deal. I called asus support waited maybe 3-4 weeks before I gotten my new MB. So I put everything in like normal booted it up and still getting error code 55 with all 4 memory sticks but, using two memory sticks is fine. I highly doubt that I gotten two bad memory slots again or I might have who knows. Also when I just got this new MB I booted up my PC and everything is all messed up the main problem is its saying I don't have a secure internet connection. So In the long run I can only run on 2 memory sticks. So instead of having the above spec now I have 16G. The bad thing about it its 1 black and 1 red memory slot is bad and 1 black and 1 red is good. I am pretty much at a loss at this point because now this would be the second MB that I have gotten and it's bad. I have also tried switching in a out memory in different slot etc. so its not the memory. Much help would be appreciated. If you need more information just ask me 🙂 Also if anyone has a recommended setup in bios that would be awesome. Also sorry if this question has been asked before.

I would suggest that you might want to try reseating your CPU. This error is a real pain to try and fix. It comes about because the memory modules are not being picked up. The cause can be and often is an uneven mount of the CPU cooler. Memory slots that are to tight, dirt or stuff in the slot.

Did you wear an anti static band when you changed your vga? That may have kicked off this episode too, or the cooler may have been bumped.

Try reseating the cooler and post back.

OK what do you mean by reseating the CPU do you mean the entire motherboard or my entire PC ? Or the GPU ? The GPU is kind of leaning I think it's because it's a big GC however when I take that out same error. Also I didn't wear a anti static band I actually never know about them until you told me.

i used to boot up my cpu to enter o.s by leaving the cpu on for 20 to 40sec to 1 min then press reset button..

then on the led error code started to run different codes thus entering o.s...when i got to o.s i used the pc normally with out any problem..

but do i have to do this step over and over again..sometimes im getting hdd checkups now same on my sdd because it started to*

destroyed my hdd last time..good thing wd rma and replace my hdd i dont want to do this all the time as i suspect it can ruin my sdd aswell

.PS. i use my computer normally which means i checked my cpu through prime! and run it with no errors which means my cpu / ram(memtest)*

has no problem!..very disappointed ROG mobo user!

Without another cpu or mobo to test with it's pretty much a coin flip. Could be either cpu or mobo. The quickest way to get this solved would be to rma both.

I mean take your cooler off the CPU.

Fit your cooler again.

It may just be your CPU has been fitted unevenly, this will cause error 55.

The fact that one bank of memory slots is down indicates either bent pins or a CPU that is unevenly seated
