Yeah the PSU does support ErP just doesn't publicize it well....good you found the fix....Ai charger will of course override the ErP function...

Ok, if i remember on a PSU is only one wire for flipping the PS between standby and Run. I think for a PSU ErP is a fact that when it is in standby the remain power is under a ecological specification.

For a MB it's the possibility to reduce the MB own standby power under a level so tha't the PSU can hold the ecological specification.

Sorry for my English...

ErP lot 6 specification uses an advanced +5vSB in order to keep consumption under 1W when it is toggled on. So the PSU has to directly support the standard (It is mandatory in the EU only since 2010). The majority of PSUs do not support it properly or not at all.
That said it seems that scan.co.uk specs were wrong about the AX1200i.:)

I found the PSU specification http://www.corsair.com/media/cms/manual/psu-spec-table-041913.pdf

410 mW in switchet ON / Standby mode.

In the "OFF" ErP ON state the mobo must be ca < 1000 - 410 mW for meet the specification (Max 1W/h => <8.76 Kw/Year => 0.90 Euros/Year)

On the hardware side there are no special link between the PSU and the mobo.
