I have recently applied the H100 to my new 3930k however the paste didnt look like it would cove the whole of the cpu, still waiting or other parts so having booted it yet but do you think its best if i take it off and apply my own and cover the whole chip? or is there enough on the h100 cos the sb-e chips are bigger

a dab in the middle....................:D

Its more important not to tight the screws to hard, you lose temps if u do.. And tighten them with even pressure..

The surface on the H100-cooper-block, is not exactly jailbait smooth either..

Its possible to optimize everything...

to much paste, and u risk never getting the board sold, later on.. when its time for upgrade

Fire it up.. good temps?, why change?

The paste was already spread out on the H100 however didnt cover a lot of it and when i measure it didnt cover all of the cpu, ill give it a go and see, i tightened all the screws like you said however duno if im done them to tight, is there any way to check? I used my finfers then a screwdriver to tighten them...

No, just must trust your fingers, you feel when u have tighten them to hard..

I think it will be fine.. as long as the H100 is properly installed..

If you thinking of changing later on, buy a tube, that is non electric-conductive.. boards has been killed by paste in the "cpu-bed"..

But if u apply it yourself, i think u will gain some temp, for what its worth..

I used the paste that came on my H80 (which is the exact same setup as the H100 minus 2 fan control ports) and have no issues.
With vcore at 1.300 and multiplier at 42, I idle around 40c with the fans on the lowest speed.

The cores are in the middle of the CPU so you actually don't need a perfect spread over the whole cap. The pressure of the heat sink on the CPU is generally enough to spread the TIM far enough to cover most of the cap which is all that is needed.

How I done it :

H80 --> original paste --> mount it --> screw it in place --> idle 36c/Room temp 25c/ Fan Control running in 2nd position --> Thank u v.much ..

moral of story = don't it get over excited with the thermal paste subject, just make sure you screw the fan controller evenly.
