DRAM Voltage Higher Than Manual Input Value

Hi everyone,

Spec:
4790K (stock)
ASUS Maximus VII Hero (BIOS ver 1104) - all settings default
Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B 8GB DDR3 1.5v

The DRAM Voltage in both Auto and Manual (1.50v) settings overvolt the ram to 1.523v (BIOS reading). With manual setting at 1.5v, hwinfo64 shows mininum DRAM voltage of 1.514v and maximum DRAM voltage of 1.536v after a short gaming session.

Is this normal?

Thanks for your time!

Hi, DennisL and welcome

Yep, that's normal. I set 1.52 for RAM and get 1.536. That's apparently the normal tolerance, which is likely in either the setting or sensor and most likely some of both. The same applies to Vccin, Vcore, etc. They'll be close, but only within .02v or so. More variation with load and temperature is also normal.

With Asus boards, these small variations are usually safe. The only time we need to be overly concerned is when overclocking and running voltages near the top end. Then it's better to measure ProbeIt points with a multimeter rather than rely on BIOS settings or the sensors. With your settings and no overclock, you're far from that point.
