Double Boot

I just put together my Maximus VII Hero with a 4770K and Corsair 1866 memory. Currently I have the BIOS set to optimized defaults with the memory set to XMP.

Whenever I start the computer from a cold boot, say the next night after shutting it down, it boots and posts for about 10 seconds, shuts down, then boots up again.I have read that this is normal but in the Windows event log, it shows a critical error where Windows has shut down unexpectedly. I have a 840 Pro as my main C drive so I guess it is almost booted into Windows when the shutdown occurs.

Like I said I am not currently overclocking, I am running some stability tests at stock speeds before I push the CPU.

Is this normal? Is there a setting in the BIOS that will stop this from happening. I don't want my Windows files to get corrupted.

I have a Corsair H105 and the temps are normal, voltages are normal, no stability issues so far at stock from within Windows.

I used to have a P8P67-Pro that would do the same thing, but the trick there was disabling the ASMedia SATA ports in the BIOS.

And since then i never bought a desktop til now.. So raja@asus says the false/fake/double boot is normal for power cycle i hope it won't damage the other stuff in the mobo.. Im really worried.. Thanks for reassuring us.. If anything.. Is it possible to ask here about how to fully use your 3tb hard drive in Windows 8.1?

Hello

Initialize and format the drive as GPT instead of MBR.

Nice someone response.. Thanks.. I don't know exactly how to do that.. Coz i always see the option to convert to gpt but its unclickable..

This was happening to me before until yesterday when my computer would turn on at all even after pressing the clear bios button. i read somewhere that they had to reseat the battery, which I did. It fixed the "not turning on" issue, as well as my double boot issue. I thought it was normal for the board to double boot at first. I haven't tried to boot it again after i turned it off today, but I will once I once I get home.

Hello

After clearing the BIOS the board will no longer double boot as all settings are at default.

I replied to the other thread with the same issue. Mine no longer does the "double boot".
