Does my board have a problem?

ShavedApe

Using the latest bios not beta so I think it was 0506 for Crosshair V Formula, I find the bios can crash from time to time and ive even had the computer restart once or twice too while in bios I should add.
Sometimes when ive overclocked but also sometimes when I havent ive had it say overclocking failed press F1 and even crash when I do that and im left with a white dash on my screen that just stays frozen and nothing happens.

Do I have an issue with my board? is this a bios problem? is it already known?

If its a board issue should I return it?

I havent used the EFI bios before the last asus board I had was an old crosshiar i think the first or second one so is this normal and therefore ill just have to put up with it?

Could I talk you into posting your systems specs in the form of a signature in your user CP

With more information and hardware configuration the members here will be better able to help out.

Thanks

This happened to me on 2 990fx boards including the formula V, the problem turned out to be a faulty ram stick, be on the safe side run a memtest86+. If that done produce the error check that the memory is on the right Timings and the voltages. Please post your specs.
My new motto, have a problem MEMTEST.
(If I carry on like this I might become an official ROG forum parrot)

Ok I ran a memtest and even with the new settings for my memory based on a post here from raja there where no errors so doesnt look like its a memory issue. Its not the end of the world I have to say since 99% of the time Im not in the bios anyway and the system is stable otherwise. I just thought since the board is new and possibly within my 28 days return to retailer if there was a known issue then I would take it back and get a replacement.

i think raja did mention that the 990fx is build for bulldozer. all of us are using the 990fx not 890fx so were lucky if we make it stable.

Might also be the PSU is starting to act up????

If it was the PSU it would act up regardless of being in bios or windows, My problem is just bios related a few minutes ago I had issues entering and or using, twice it crashed before it loaded second time it froze as soon as it had loaded so i could see the bios screen but thats all the mouse was stuck.
I have to say though I am looking forward to putting a bulldozer in I am also expecting even more issues once I do at this point, think in future I may wait for revision 2 or 3 before upgrading last board was fine no issues im almost tempted to put it back in for the time being.

Those 4GB sticks again, did you try just 2? Until BullDozer?
I would before I went backwards... This is my 2nd V, both ran
beyond my expectations, well almost..haha, on 2GB sticks..
Most, if not all of the ram issues I have seen are with those 4GB
sticks....990&BD.The Cure.

(The first I RMA'd because of faulty Start/Reset switches on the
board. I have a third, V/Thunderbolt...Soon.)

Im gonna run just 8 GB see if that fixes it for the moment and then when the BullDozers are here then ill see how it goes
