disappointed with MAXIMUS VI IMPACT sound card...

Unless I'm missing something, I don't see how this can be used for 600 ohm headphones, when mine is far less than that. I have the volume on maxed out and it's still not loud enough at all. I've checked the realtek manager and see nothing to change any ohm settings or anything.

I have the xonar dg and was expecting similar performance. That thing gets loud and I only paid around $20 for it. I really wanted an all in one solution here.

I've used a Xonar Xense (it does a VERY loud crack when started up) and a Titanium HD (less loud, but it's there). I'm no expert, but i guess it's maybe because the integrated amps are started up by software, while standalone amps are "always on", so they start up along with onboard capacitors, not after they're fully charged? Anyway, seems normal.

The "crack" sound is simply the output relays latching. Relays are used to latch the output after voltage is supplied to the amplifier section to prevent DC "thump".

Hello Raja, i have reformat my entire machine because of this ****ty onboard sound supremeFX. My sound is very LOW, i cannot select amplify level if the headphone is in its back of motherboard. My sound plays more to the left if its centered normal, look screenshot.

In Windows go to Sound > Playback Devices
For your Realtek HD Audio go to Properties
On the Levels Tab click Balance for the top Output Item

Can you adjust the L/R levels there?

They only set the AMP on the front port. You should be able to adjust from there the level of amplification.

If not, or in addition, if you go to Sound Effects, go to the EQ and create a custom one, crank the far right bar (no frequency under it) up. This should also amplify the output.

I've moved on to the Razer Surround Pro software.

The issue has been passed to Realtek for some time - we're awaiting an updated driver from them. As soon as we have it we'll pass on here.

Are we still waiting for this to be sorted?

Good news folks - A new driver will be available in a couple of days to fix the issue. It's in the process of being sent out to the servers. Driver v7161 WHQL.
