Hey guys, I've been trying to get the digital audio working on my rampage 4 extreme, but through the asus realtek audio control panel there is no option for digital? Where can I look? Does it support it? cause im plugged into the Optical spidf port plugged into the z5500's optical port.

Please help!

I know im not the only one who has SLI and realizes that I can't fit a sound card and the RIVE doesn't support digital audio right?

Am I missing something? Can I enable it somewhere or it just doesn't have digital and dts out of the optical port?

I'm not sure regarding the on-board digital sound, I think it shoudl work all the time if you set it as Default Device in the Windows Sound control panel.

I run a 3-way SLI system on RIVE and have a Xonar Phoebus sound card installed. Unless you have 4 video cards installed it shouldn't be a problem to add a discrete sound card.

How are you running a sound card the slot is blocked? you have 3 double slot coolers right? doesn't it cover the pci-e slot? Were talking about a x79 rampage 4 extreme right?

wait a minute lol are you using slot 1-2-then 4 skipping the 3rd graphics slot? Cause im running my gtx's in slot 1-2-3 in tri sli. Did you skip the 3rd slot and use the 4th? Just trying to figure out how you have a sound card pci-e slot open with tri sli on a RIVE.

cx-ray, I'm having trouble with any PCIe 1x devices (ASUS AC66-PCE or ASUS Xonar Essence STX) being recognized in any slot other than the PCIeX1_1 slot... were there any changes you had to make to get these devices to be recognized?

It works fine.
Enable it through the Windows audio control panel if the Realtek application is too tough to understand.

I dont think u understand what im asking.

I have audio and it works fine. Im talking about DIGITAL audio.

On my previous gigabyte board in its audio contol panel i set it to digital and it was getting
Digital audio signal the WHOLE time.

Not on the rampage 4 extreme. I only get digital from blurays, not gaming or listening to streaming music.

Basically, does the rampage 4 extreme support digital audio or just default pro logic 2 etc???

I think there might be a misunderstanding. The sound card can fit in any slot. It doesn't have to be in one of the short ones. I'm using the first 3 red slots for the GPUs and the last one for the sound card.

What r u serious? You can use any short pci ex card in A full lenght pci express 16 or x 8 slot? I never knew this,
If i knew this i woulda stuffed a sound card in there long ago.. i thought the slot it fit in to had to be the same size...
