I am a little lost on the procedure. Is this the correct?
1. delid
2. clean chip & and both sides of lid including black sealer on die and lid
3. put on liq ultra on die
4. DO NOT put the lid back on
5. put chip in socket
7 place and hold lid on chip
8 lock lid down while holding it.
a little more accurate... and watch some videos on you tube for practice. SEE MY PHOTO ABOVE ...do not go in far with the razor where the caps are.... other sides are ok... this only applies to devil's canyon i believe...

Ty for helping me understand. I will look at some vids. I originally was thinking about just using liq ultra and not delidding. My temps are already pretty good. Does delidding change your warranty?

Good job with the delidding, digmeahole1. Liquid metal ultra works at least as good as Pro - application is a matter of personal preference.
That is also a VERY good 4790K if it's stable at 4.6 with 1.155Vcore. Another way to look at the 10C temperature drop is that there are now more watts available for higher overclocking. A 4790K that good could get in to the 5.0GHz range on a small AIO water cooler. If you try it, though, watch the temperatures closely.
