Dead USB port?

I had my keyboard connected in one of the top 2 usb ports beside the ps2 connector. This morning the bios reported no keyboard detected so I unplugged the keyboard and plugged it into the front USB on my pc and it works.

I have tried Plugging other usb objects (a Mouse/ A Dock / USB Key / Another keyboard) and none will work in either usb port that is beside the ps2 connector on the motherboard. The odd thing is when I do the keyboard, for about a 1/4 of a second when I plug it in the lights on the keyboard come on (Num Lock, Caps Lock) then it goes out.

I am trying this in the bios also, not windows so I know its not a driver issue?

These ports worked fine from july until today.

Any Ideas on what I could try to fix this?

Go into the BIOS and make sure the USB switch is set to NEC. Had the same issue on my mobo. That fixed it.

You might want to check and see if there is a newer BIOS. I was thinking this was fixed in the newest ones but I'm not 100% on that.
A bus station is where a bus stops. A train station is where a train stops. On my desk, I have a work station…
