HI all,

I have tryed using he search fuction and have scrolled thru so many different threads trying to find a answer but seems i cant not.

I have just built my first gaming machine, in facted its the first computer i have built in the last 8 years so little out of date.

System specs are :

Crosshair V Formula Z
FX8350
Gigabyte GTX 770 OC
Kingston 2x8gb 1600mhz

Now i have every thing running sweet and beautiful I do have sound coming from the HDMI port from the video card but for the life of me can not get the audio to work from the motherboard. I have installed the realtek driver from the ASUS website installed it and restated the machine and it made no different, I have used the realtek HD audio manger before but on my last machine it came with the motherboard (which i do not have the CD for any more) So could some one please help me out to why i cant not get the realtek HD audio manager to install.

Cheers

I assume you have installed the drivers as per your OS and if the system is still not working then something is wrong.

However that being said, if you look at the playback devices right click are speakers detected, not via the HDMI cable of course. It might just be you need to set the realtek driven speakers as active.

As you can see from the screen shots, it only shows my NVIDIA audio.

Indeed it does.

Mitch can you confirm that you have sound enabled in bios? And that the speakers are actually connected and powered up. I know I am stating the obvious but would be remiss for not asking...

Thank you HiVizMan, you are a legend, when i first set the motherboard up i have only changed the profile so i could run my ram profile to XMP. and all other setting were set to default, and guess what the on board HD audio was disabled. Enabled it reinstalled the newest driver and BAM HD audio manger and all speakers are working.

Thank you again.

All good buddy the main thing for me is that you have a working ROG board and you are happy.

Take care and visit again even if it is just to say hello.

1st thing I thought of, was the sound wasn't enabled in BIOS 😉 and that was only reading the title and the OP

Yo guys, thanks for the help! The fact that a bios update disables your audio device as a default is bizarre - also the audio in cmos is listed as Azuria or something instead of Realtek...also bizarre. Get this fixed ASUS
