Crosshair V Formula-Z 32GB DDR3 RAM Recommendations?

I've bought a Crosshair V Formula-Z and AMD FX-8350, running on 16GB DDR3 1,333 because I couldn't afford some beefier RAM. Well, now I can. I'm looking for 32GB DDR3 at hopefully 1,800+ speeds, decent timings. Anyone have any luck at 32GB at decent speeds? QVL references are unimportant here.

well why dont u get better ram, and keep in mind that bigger in size memory slower it gets, u could have very fast cpu and very fast board but if ur ram is not, u hit the wall and will be seeing a lot of blue screen ..

Unless you have a need to use 32GB RAM, like video encoding etc it's a waste really.

ddr3 is dropping prices every day, upgrading to 32 would be cheap. So why not do it?

It's not cheap everywhere you look mate, here in Aus for a Dominator 32GB kit@ 1866, you're looking at 285. For Dom Platinums 32GB @ 1600 the price is 349...though G.Skill does have 32GB Ripjaws X @ 1333 at 165 and the best available I can see for G.Skill is 32GB Trident X @ 2400 at 299. The prices, i'm betting in the US of A are significantly lower.

Oh and as a note to the OP: You can't use 64GB RAM on the CHVF(Z) boards, they can only handle a max of 32GB...plus that much RAM and the frequency of 2400, is gonna strain the IMC somewhat, so if your system starts to act skiddish...ya know why

Love how no one actually gave a 32GB DDR3 recommendation. I need about 64GB of RAM but there aren't any around hardly, especially in consumer price ranges. Why do I need this much? Development simply put, not audio or video, nor games. Stuff. I bought GSkill's 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR3 2,400 1.65V set, running 1,866 at the moment at 8 9 9 24 1.6V. Going to work on my timings and such. RAM is my bottleneck, but not to the point of BSODs. That'd be related to NB and HT not being right for the RAM speed.

I don't think the Crosshair supports more than 32GB but 64GB would be cool. Kingston had a demo on 64GB in a RAM disk config. Super fast. This is partly why I am interesting in 32GB for myself. Yes, there are likely diminishing returns the more memory you have on board but that seems to be if you run it in a standard config. I wonder what you could accomplish with 16GB of that designated as a RAM disk?

That does bring me back to the original topic of this thread which Yuji started. Are there any recommendations for 32GB of RAM for a system using the Crosshair V Formula-Z and AMD FX-8350? Looks like when you go to 4 DIMMS you max at 1333.

Can that speed be pushed if you OC and use faster memory?

Corsair Dominator Platinum or GT ... 16GB .. imho.c.

Too much RAM = Diminishing returns ( Better said : you won't get much more performances from having more than what you need )

I personally have 16 Gb only because I am making music using software and a lot of sound database ( such as EWQL Symphonic Orchestra, Goliath II and more ) and I would need around 24 Gb to fit all my need to be honest. If it wasn't from this software, I would be using 12 Gb for gaming, maybe even 8...

My system will not be limited to just gaming. I'm actually a heavy Excel 2010 users. It seems that many of the specifications and limits Microsoft lists are limited by available memory. Would this be a case where 32GB might be reasonable?
