As the title says, I cant enter safe mode. I press F8 on the Asus Boot screen on the start, and the next screen I get is nothing. The computer screen stays black forever. What is the issue and how can it be fixed?

if you're using a later version of windows, the f8 at load does not work anymore. there are several other ways to enter safe mode that can be found online with a quick search. this isn't a hardware issue at all. i know for a fact that windows 8+ has disabled the f8 at load, not sure about 7, but i think so. check it out online for how to enter safe mode correctly.

May I suggest that you access the BIOS and see if your storage devices are detected as a start...if not then you have a problem with:
1) the data cable is unplugged either on the motherboard or the storage device
2) the power cable to the storage device is not on securely which is a common problem with SATA-based storage devices
3) the SATA Controller is disabled in the BIOS
4) the storage device is defective
