Updated the Crosshair V BIOS ASMedia 106x Sata controller option ROM from 0.93 to 0.951.
I modified the BIOS myself, using the same method ASUS uses to add modules through the AMI Aptio system (mmtool).
I downloaded the latest Asmedia ASM 106x SATA 6G Controller Firmware from here:
http://www.station-drivers.com/page/asmedia.htmI also took a look at the AMD 950SB RAID option rom, and found that Asus has already updated it to the latest version (3.3.1540.17) for bios 1703.
I have been using the bios for about a day now, and my ASMedia sata port (the one that looks right up at you from the motherboard) has been working perfectly and I see a quick screen in the bios when I first turn on my computer that shows verison 0.951 for the controller.
I thought I would share my success with others. The bios is in the link below after instructions.
I have no clue whether or not the performance of the controller improved, so please reply with some benchmarks before and after the bios update using the ASMedia 106x sata port.
INSTRUCTIONS:Just unzip the .zip file, and flash the .ROM file using the ASUS EZFlash utility.
Please feel free to leave comments and some +rep.
