Crosshair IV formula OC problem

hi guys, friend of mine have this type of motherboard, crosshair IV formula, but he have some temperature problem, CPU always on 70°-75°c in normal condition, so i've changed some option in the bios, noticed that the cool'n quiet was disabled, enabled, save and exit, when the windows start and checked the temperature, 40°c, that look pretty legit to me, but here we are with the real problem, my friend took his pc, gone home, start the pc and show up an error "overclocking failed" F1 to start without overclocking and F2 another opt, that atm i dont remember, start window, and again 70° 80°c so, there is my question, this motherboard have some sort of overclock preset profile? there is i way that i can disable it? because im pretty sure that is the overclocking that put the CPU on high temp.

Hi Ombra and Welcome to ROG 😉

Please list the cooling system, the CPU and attempted OC specs.

If his system is indicating an OC failure and temps are as you say, then reset CMOS back to default values and at stock frequency.

Those temps at idle are high, but would be normal under heavy load, say in a stress test and depending on cooling.

In the AI OC Tuner section in the Extreme Tweaker menu of your Bios, is where you will find the presets.

Once a preset is chosen, you should conduct a stress test to determine stability and temperatures.

Presets are: Manual, Auto, D.O.C.P and CPU Level up. If not sure on which to choose, advice will be given once we know the specs.
