Hi and sorry for my terrible English!;)

I have the mainboard Crosshair Formula 5 and unfortunatelly I'm not very happy with the performance while gaming. I have heard it might be coased my bad compability of my mainboard and graphic board (I have AMD Radeon HD 6970) .A friend of mine said, there was a list of compatible it graphic boards. I tried to find it - and failed. Does anybody know where can I find this list ( I mean there were some graphic boards, my mainboard was tested with)??

Thank U very much!

The 6970 should run just fine with your Motherboard as the card is a PCIe 2.1 and the Motherboard is PCIe 2.0. As for a list of comptability for graphics cards...I think your friend was just joking with you as you don't need a compatability list...you just need a Graphics Card that uses the same PCIe Generation as your Motherboard, though a PCIe 3.0 card will work just fine on your Motherboard also 🙂

Can we have some more insight as to what kind of other hardware you're using? CPU RAM, Power supply. Case, Harddrives? SSD?
may i also ask what games and settings you're using for those games?
Corsair Carbide 540 Air ~ AMD FX 8350 ~ Asus Crosshair V Formula Z ~ 1901 BIOS ~ Corsair Dominator Platinum 2400 MHz 2x8 Gb CMD16X3M2A2400C10 ~ EVGA GTX 1080 Ti ~ Corsair AX860i PSU ~ Samsung 840 Pro 256Gb SATA 3 SSD ~ WD 4 TB 7200 RPM 64 MB ( RMA'd ) ~ Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum ~ Corsair SP2500 2.1 Gaming Speakers ~ 27 Samsung SA550 HD LED Monitor ~

That card is very very good and you should not have any problems with games. I would try and ensure a 4.4GHz overclock of what ever CPU you are using to fully use the graphic card capacity.
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

Here is my PC:

Win 7 64 bit Ultimate
AMD FX8 8150
ATI Radeon HD 6970
ASUS Crosshair Formula 5
DDR3 Kingston insg. 16 GB RAM
Netzteil be-quiet! 750 Watt
SATA III 1000 GB Hitachi Deskstar 7k1000.D 32 MB 7200 U/min.

So, I have two problems (maybe they have the same cause?)

1) My games judder (not sure about this word, however the image "hops", but only if I scroll with my mause. Even such games as Europa Universalis 3, HOI 3 have this problem. It is worse with the Sims 3. I have bought all new parts of the PC within 6 month, but the problem is still here. Oh, by Shoghun 2 I could solve the problem as I turned on th VSync in the game settings. But I can't find this setting by other games.

2) If I want to play different games my PC shuts down. By Shoghun 2 it happens quiet emmediatelly, Sims 3 shut down about 20 min after starting, Tropico 4 many hour later. I have just updated my BIOS and installed Win 7 again, now I am downloading Shoghun 2 - tonight I wíll try it and post whether the problem is still here (as I suppose).

Do U have some Ideas?

Try updating CCC and also always installed the latest CAP. You can find the best working benchmarked drivers from here. Sometimes certain ati drivers have issues with games.

I would look at getting a different Power Supply. If you went and bought a cheap one...it may end up costing you in the long run if it fails before it's time. Go for something like an Antec, or even a Corsair.

The Be Quite PSU range is darn good MyK's they are not well known outside of Europe but I have been testing the 1200W range for about six months now and they are very very good.

OP here is what I would do.

In BIOS set F5 for defaults and see if you have the shudder issues. If no then it is an overclock issue. If yes then it is a driver issue. Lets deal with one problem at a time.

Do also make sure you have all the drivers installed and up to date. When having an issue that is a good time to update a driver.

Somthing else to take a quick look into is some brand 6970 cards (XFX) had over heating problems with the auto fan feature.
