CPU Level Up and X.M.P.

Hi all

Could someone kindly demystify the reason why X.M.P. is disabled and getting set back to standard RAM speed, when using the Asus CPU Level Up feature?

I am running stable at 4.5Ghz on my 3.7Ghz i7-4820K using the CPU Level Up and is actually pretty satisfied with that, but when using it, it sets my RAM back to stock 😞

The reason I would suggest is that they are incompatible together.

I suggest you use the level up and then manually set your memory to the frequency on the sticker, just remember to set the voltage for the sticks too.

Save these settings to a profile and you will be good to go and have a basis from which you can work if you feel like exploring your system settings further.

Thanks HiViz. I figured I would try that out, but when I was in the BIOS, i ended up doing it the other way around, letting the X.M.P. stay, and setting the multiplier and vcore manually.

In managed to get it to 4.7Ghz at 1.44 voltage, and it sits at around 50-55c under load using Realbench Stress Test. The Realbench ran for 15 mins without a problem and I have been uding the PC stable since. Would really appreciate if someone could validate whether this OC shoudl be OK? (I made a new thread to request that :)).

If you overclock the CPU in 100MHz steps taking note of the voltage increase at each step, you will find a point where it starts needing a non-linear increase in voltage for the next 100MHz increase. The frequency before that sudden increase is generally the best place to run an overclock that does not flail the CPU.
