CPU FAN delay and CPU LED issues

Today I have been noticing quite a few issues with my CHV. I am wondering if its dying?

1) the CPU FAN does not start right way when the machine boots up it usually takes quite some time to kick in and when Windows is running, you can hear the fan completely shut off for a little bit and start again. The fan is otherwise a known good fan and working fine. I tried to play with some fan settings in the bios but no luck.

2) Other fans that were connected to the system (only 1 pin for rpm, powered by PSU) now cause the board to not boot up and throw a CPU LED error. If I disconnect them it seems to work. The said fans do work fine and can run properly.

3) I was not able to exit the bios on one occasion, no matter how many times I would try to exit, it would just go back to the last screen. The only way I could exit was by shutting the system off.

The machine seems to be running fine otherwise, all other components work. i was able to game, play videos and surf with no issues. However, I am noticing some really weird issues.

Updating the BIOS doesn't help because there seems to be an issue with the newer BIOS and using a mini display port monitor. So I am stuck on 1102 Bios

Welcome to the forum
I would start by reseating all the power connections, and I really don't understand how the MB will have any effect on which output port you use on the video card, BUT I can see where a dieing PSU could be creating all the problems you are mentioning.

I have tried a different PSU and seems to have same symptons.

All BIOS except for 1102 seem to prevent me from getting any video output on DP. I am not to concerned about the video as I am fine on that bios. however i am concerned about the fan.

Hello tripleBad

Could you test something for me please. First save your current BIOS set up as a profile.

Then once you are sure it is saved successfully please F5 to reset defaults.

F10 and enter to save and reboot.

Power down and remove your battery from the motherboard. Remove the PSU socket from the wall plug.

Clear CMOS and let your system stand for a few minutes.

Put all back together again.

Does your fan now work.

I do think that you potentially have a damaged fan header.

I Followed your advice and same issues. However I notices something.

If I plug that fan into another header it works fine, if I plug into another different one it (CPU_OPT) it does the same thing.

I checked the fan headers and they are straight and do not have any physical damage. I am leaning more towards the board is problematic. When I tried to power up a few times I did get the red CPU LED. Also, sometimes when testing it will just black screen and the red CPU led will go on again. The CPU is known good however, as the machine still can boot up and run games, operate normally.

Yeah I think that is possible. RMA time in that case.

If possible before you do RMA, check that your fans work on another boards, CPU fan and CPU_opt headers.
