when i try to lock the cpu, i hear like a buzzing or more like crunching sound ( like against the pin but not sure) with lots of force required (the first lock). Is it supposed to be? Im scared but I went ahead and pulled both hooks and locked it. The second hook made a squeaky sound as I was trying to lock it. I'm worried... As you all know, it's a pricey motherboard.....

If you have put your CPU in the right way then it is all good.

If you are not willing to close the socket then return the product and get a chipset that does not make you nervous.

The LGA2011 socket requires way more downward force than the P87 or P77 do. That much is obvious by virtue of the dual locking mech on the LGA 2011.

Mine was same way sounded like pins were crushing.
so as I was pushing down on the lever I also put a light pressure on the other lever, so it didn't seem like I was pushing just one side of the cpu down.
not sure if it helped or is suggested, but no problems after power up.
