couple of questions on Z9PE-D8

Hello,

I'm considering building a new rig and one of the choices is using Z9PE-D8.

I have a few questions I would really appreciate to get help with:

  • I know it is not listed as officially supported but is it possible to install other LGA 2011 CPUs on this board? e.g. two E5-4650L or even two i7-3970X ? the officially supported cards are listed here: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z9PED8_WS/#support_CPU
  • Is it possible combining non ECC memory with Xeon processors e.g. combine Xeons with the corsair non ECC Vengueance 32GB CMZ32GX3M4X1866C10?
  • Would there be any issues installing 4x Titan GTX cards (for the purpose of HPC and no SLI).

Separate from this can anyone advice how this setup compares to a similar one using RIVE with one i7-3970X and four Titan GTX cards? can I really expect 2x the performance while using this motherboard specially in the context of number crunching computation?

Thanks in advance,
Best regards,
Giovanni
