Corsshair V - unStable BIOS/ no POST

Mummy

Hi there,

So back from 2 Intel's to AMD and my firsth "new build up problem".
So yeah i have bean lucky with new builds untill now.

My spec's are in sign.

1. I start pc with full install(all components) and DRAM led stays on. ..I think maybe "GO button" helps me. Nope, some flashing littel longer, then stable DRAM led light. (no POST)

2. I try both sticks individually on all slots, pressing Go-button many times. Nothing. (no POST)

3. I take 1 stick(G.Skill Eco 1600 2GB) from old pc, no change. i try secend stick from that old pc and on last slot (slot 1 black) it POST to BIOS (YEAH)

4. I go look in BIOS, Crass in some secends. I boot again and try change a little, press "F10" and safe.

5. I do that some time and get more and more stable BIOS.

6. I install my OS. all correct firsth try. all seams to work fine pc restarts, cold boots and all. Only CPU-Z(ROG-version) shows SB850 to my Sb but i think its just fail read/old CPU-Z.

7. I try cold boot on next day, no POST. DRAM led is stable on.

8. Pressing Go button, some 10th time and heureca im in BIOS doing all settings again.

9. I update my BIOS 0506(or so), no luck. Next day, no POST.

10. I get my BIOS working again and try my new stick that i start this build. Yeah, it works.

11. Next day, no POST. I get my BIOS working and try faind, answer from internet.
-- I find some notes that say(if i understand it correctly), mayby my CPU(phenom 555) has not so good, memory controler. So its working, but not so great on Dual Channel configuration.

Well main isnt working on Single Channel eather.

12. I set in BIOS so low on DRAM freq i can, so its 800MHz(DDR) and rest like normal (intel spec's).

13. Next day. POST like it should. I insert secend stick of memory, now its Dual Channel. (and both on red slots now)

Ok: so after that its has POST every time and my system is stable as far i can tell with ~week trying with these settings.

What do you think, is it my CPU or MB?
I am getting that BD so is it ok to wait untill it comes in here(Finland) and see will it work?
May that new beta BIOS help me? --would it void my MB warrenty?

P.S. normaly "go button" start system with up 1000MHZ or bigger, maybe thats a fault and reason why so many no POST. (on some systems)

I hope this easy some pain that others may have on setting theyr build.
Sorry my English.
Peace Mummy

hmmm do you have a mecanical drive??
if so try that whit the OS (operating system ( w7 ) ) on it ( they say the corshair disk's have problems whit the sandforce but you never know ) its worth a try. ( dont delete the ssd disk's 😉 )
for the memory try that "easy memory setup" ( if its enny help )
the hdd setup must be in AHCI mode 1 - 4 ( not ide )
