hi all,
i was looking to buy SAMSUNG XP941 to use with my Asus Rog Maximus VI Gene mobo but more i read on the net more i m getting confused regarding if this ssd will work or not.

here is an article suggesting that 80mm (2280) PCIe ssds will ONLY work with maximus VI impact and VII Gene. acc to my knowledge both maximus VI impact and VI gene have same mPCIe COMBO II hardware to mount m.2 ssds.
but here asus posted that all Maximus VI boards(except Hero) support this pcie ngff ssd. which is (2280) variant.

now i am confused if i should buy this ssd or not.
I am already running a PC with 2.5" hdds from my old laptops but there is nothing of importance that i will mind loosing.. pls guide me if i will need anymore hardware/software before hand. if anyone has any experience with these 2 together your inputs are more than welcome.

thanks in advance.

My current hardware-
MoBo- Asus RoG Maximus VI Gene
CPU- i7 4790k (stock speeds) H90 liqd cooler

RAM- 2*4GB corsair vengeance
PSU- silverstone strider 750W GOLD
OS- win 8.1 pro
current HDD- 650GB tosg]hiba primary, 320 gb samsung secondary, 320gb toshiba backup.

Hello

As stated in the specs and the owners manual for the M6G the Combo II card supports type 2242 drives only.

Just about when I was about to loose hope in Asus forums, someone replied. 😛
On serious note thank you for replying. But I do have another question. If I use this adaptor and install this ssd on my available pcie x8 slot, can I make this ssd bootable through vi gene's latest bios/Uefi?
I am kinda smitten by this ssd and want it to work on my computer. Other option is plextor m6e ssd which is slower than this one bit has its own drivers built in.
Replies will be appreciated.

Hello

I'm not sure the M6G has the necessary support built in for the XP941.
