Cold Boot Issue with Maximus VI Hero After Overclock

Having a bit of a strange issue with booting after overclocking. My overclock is completely stable in the OS, however when I cold boot the system when the PSU has been off (restarts are fine, also no problems when i shut down the system and start it up again without disconnecting the PSU) I will get a single boot loop. The system will start, and the q-code reader will start running through codes as it usually does. However, just before where it usually boots, the q code reader displays "79" (as it normally does) then flashes "00" for a millisecond before shutting off. 2 seconds later the system will power on, run the exact same set of codes, but will make it past "79" and then boot right away into OS, where it is completely stable. I should mention that this issue does not exist when I'm running stock clocks, and also that the sequence of codes leading to post displayed on the q-code reader are different when running stock clocks.*

As I mentioned before, restarts do not incur the same issue, nor does shutting down the computer and re-starting it without cutting power to the PSU. It just seems to be happening after I've had the power supply turned off.*

I understand it's not a massive issue, still just a bit annoying. I'd like to not have 2-5 seconds of blind panic every morning when I boot the system.

Does anyone know what could be causing this, and how to stop it from happening? Thanks

Question... you turn the PSU off at night? The 2nd boot is pretty normal for a cold boot with OC settings. If I turn mine PSU off and then restart the system it will reboot it's self one time. I seen posts somewhere on that. I'll try find it for you.

Yes, I do usually turn my PSU off when I shut down my PC, never used to with my old system but as the lighting effects on the motherboard stay lit when I power down I assumed it was the best practise. Been doing some reading and I've discovered its not bad practise to leave it on anyway, so on it stays now. Happy days, I assumed it was a sign of something not being right, glad its normal though.

Thanks for your help and for finding the old thread for me mate, much appreciated.

You can disable the LEDS in the ROG Effects section under the Advanced tab within the BIOS if you desire.

I don't shut my system off at night, I just set to sleep mode and after 2hrs of none use, my case don't have a window so I never see the lights inside being cheap on a case does have it's rewards sometimes 😄

That is normal behaviour. After a cold boot the system has to retrain the bios. Nothing to worry about at all.
