CHVF limitations.

I'm thinking to purchase a 3TB hard drive. Some motherboard due to their limitations, only recognize 2TB. I'm aware newer chipsets have overcome this problem. What is the situation with the CHVF?

There is a DiskUnlocker utility listed on the support page bro.

I don't know if it's on the 'disc' or still applicable.

The 'Asus Unlocker' page doesn't list 990fx chipsets .. but it is on the current support page.

hope this helps.c.

3TB HDD? easy you plug it in and do one of 2 things: Split it into 2 MBR Partitions, or, convert the drive to GPT so it can be seen as a whole single drive. By the way, it has nothing to do with "chipsets" it's about the partitions.

My reply had nothing to do with Unlocker Bro, was just stating what options GOR52 has in regards to the 3TB drive 😉

Gor52 and chrsplmr, yes it's on the support disk....just an older version, 1.xsomething or other is on mine but yes this will allow you to do it.

Gor52 there are other ways to accomplish it but I'm not going into telling you how to modify BIOS, that's a topic for another forum that we won't mention here. The other two ways are rather more painful than that even about $300 USD plus for a new Board or a PCI-E Controller Card of which the ones with SATA-3 with out the 2.5tb limit are rather few and really Pricy!....around $600+USD.

Myk you always give good thoughts why not now? You know all this and more...or was it you Sisters Bar-B-Que making you loose your train of thought....:p
