Cannot get Windows 8 to install.

I built this system myself as follows;

FX 8350
Crosshair V Formula Z (BIOS; 1503)
16GB Kingston HyperX Blu Black DDR3-1600
2Gb XFX Core Radeon 7870 Ghz edition
Samsung 840 Pro 128gb SSD (Used as Windows Install location)
WD RED 2TB drive (not connected)
750W PSU

I can't seem to get Windows 8 to install completely. It boots to the dvd drive fine, installs windows 8, then restarts and has the windows 8 logo and the swirling timer. The computer restarts itself numerous times and then finally just sits there with a blank screen.

I've tried UEFI mode, I've tried having it install in legacy mode and no luck. I've tried putting the sata in IDE mode and it hasn't worked.

I tried installing to the harddrive instead of the SSD and have had the same issues.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have the latest BIOS installed?

I would suggest not, is so please use a fat formatted USB stick to flash your bios via the EZflash2 utility that is found in the tools section. Do not use OS based applications to flash bios yeah. The bios flash might take a while if you have not flashed for a while as some of the new bios include a firmware update.

I fixed it. turns out secure boot was enabled and my dvd drive was not uefi, so i ripped the dvd iso and made a bootable flash drive and was able to load everything from there with no more problems. I had flashed the bios to the latest verion prior to doing so.

Thank you for the information that is very good to know. And yes the USB tool is the best free thing that Microsoft have released ever. Has mad USB OS install a breeze.
