You could do the update via OS but I would prefer you not to go that route.

USB is the way to go, and it is worth either getting one formatted to FAT that is dedicated for BIOS type stuff. I saw some at Curry's and PC World at Cabot Circus for £1.99 - might just be worth the money.

You can update your BIOS via the AI Suite software through Windows, however, this method is not 100% safe, but it works and it will solve your problems.

Save the BIOS file to your hardrive, and load it up through the EZFlasher which you can use in the BIOS.

Last resort is to use a USB memory stick andd stick it in the ROG Connect USB port, this method is best used if your BIOS is corrupted or you can get into your BIOS because of your RAM issues you talk about.

iv tryed doing it from the OS and the software bluescreens me on installation 😕
i think a cheap USB will be a better bet for me at the moment, but it would be nice if i could get it to work via CD/DVD

all you have to do is download the .rom to the root of any hard drive you have and go into the BIOS and flash it from there. (EZFLASH) (you can find it in the last tab on the right in your BIOS) you don't need USB or CD or anything. it's real simple. post back if you have trouble figuring it out.

Sorry it needs to be Fat formatted. The EZflash utility will not work with any medium that is not FAT formatted.

Thank you.

that is just plain incorrect.

I use my AHCI connected NTFS formatted drives to flash my BIOS every upgrade. Maybe you're talking specifically about removable media?

When you go into ezflash, it presents you with ALL mounted volumes including NTFS and FAT, etc

You are correct you are presented with all hard drives, you will be presented with a USB stick if it is formatted with NTFS too, but the EZflash application will not pick up your BIOS file or work unless the USB drive is formatted to one of the FAT formats.

However if you are flashing via your OS, as I suspect you might be then it will work just fine on NTFS format, and therefore your main hard drive will work too.

this will be my last post on this topic as i'm not trying to debate you. no, i always and only upgrade my bios FROM the bios and am not in windows. I simply download my bios.rom to the root of one of my many ahci ntfs formatted drives, restart into the bios, select the rom, and then flash. i have never used fat formatted storage to upgrade. i'm not sure where you're reading this or if that has been your experience, but it is not mine.

you are stating that internal storage devices formatted ntfs cannot be used to read a bios.rom and upgrade right?
